International Driver's License

In order to drive in Japan, I'll need an International Driver's License. Sounds official to me... In reality all that's needed to get an International Driving Permit, as it is correctly called, Is 2 passport photos and $15 payable to AAA.

I foresee one problem with using an international license rather than attempting to get a Japanese license, the expiration date. As you can see from the cover of my Permit, it expires one day from the date it was activated, my license will expire just less than one month before I'll be heading home next year. Lease Japan the company that supplies my car while I am here has informed me that, in the undesirable event that I need to show my Permit I would also be required to show my Passport because the local authorities will use my visa entry dates to confirm how long I have been using an international Permit rather than the date shown on the Permit itself.

Seat Guru

With the ability to switch an airline seat on a whim it's ultra easy to end up in a row of seats that doesn't recline or in an objectionable area. I'd heard of seatguru.com but hadn't put it to use, as the majority of my flights are less than 4 hours long. With a 13.5 hour flight (in economy) looming I visited seatguru and found what they claim will be a comfortable seat. Update to follow.

25 Days and Counting

I'm down to 25 days until departure for my Pre-ICT-Trip and getting emotional. It wasn't until this past weekend that it hit me that I wouldn't be seeing some of my friends for over a year. I was in LasVegas for a Friend's Birthday celebration and I wasn't emotionally prepared, or thinking about saying good bye so soon.
